This fiber studio and dye kitchen focuses on creating small batches of finely crafted color with natural dyes. These unique handmade designs draw from ancient textile traditions. By going back in the archives of history we find new solutions for textile innovation.

Natural dyeing is the process of gathering plants and insects into a cauldron and brewing them into color. Creating color from natural materials takes weeks to complete, and must be done very carefully. When done just right, this bath yields magical substance: color.

Natural dyeing is an ancient craft, but has been replaced by synthetic dyes. These chemical dyes are toxic and extremely harmful to the environment. The fashion and textile industry is devastating the planet. Did you know the textile industry is the second biggest polluter in the world, right behind oil? 5% of all the worlds landfills are textile waste and 20% of all fresh water pollution comes from the treatment and dyeing of textiles.

Natural dyeing is an eco-conscious way to create beautiful and unique textiles. It uses less water, energy, and when disposed of properly, limits pollution and contamination. Some of the by-products of dyeing can even be put in a garden or compost. Natural dyes offer an exciting opportunity to see color in a new way, by gaining a more intimate understanding of nature.
